Finding Inspiration
This project began when I came across a purse at a flea market that was entirely made of soda tabs. Feeling inspired, I decided to create my own purse. I started by figuring out a stitching pattern that would effectively combine the tabs and ultimately settled on a crochet technique to attach them together. After that, I continued to collect can tabs and began crafting panels that I could later assemble into a purse.

Building the First Prototype
Once I finalized the configuration, I assembled my first PopMetal purse. Each panel was carefully stitched together by hand, resulting in a metallic, flexible form that balanced craftsmanship and sustainability. I documented the build through photography and began designing the logo and brand identity to match the product’s DIY yet refined aesthetic.

To share the project more widely, I created an early mockup of the POPMETAL website, starting with an animated homepage concept. This evolved into a full e-commerce platform, where I launched the first collection and sold three bags in the opening month.
